66. Sieve-Like Defending

Image
When we last left off things seemed to be back on track in EDC-land. Results had picked up and we found ourselves just one point off the top of the table, right in the hunt for a shot at C-League glory. Even the board seemed happy and most importantly the other boss, Charlotte was also pleased with how the team was progressing. If you have been reading this story long enough though you will know that some complete nonsense is just around the corner.. Our Defence Match 15 – Chhlam Samuth v EDC 05/07/25 We must continue to keep winning to maintain the pressure on Angkor Tiger. The team have an excellent record against our opponents, but we must not take our eye off the ball. Samuth lay in 10 th , four points off the relegation zone, while we are in second. I make a couple of forced changes. Vavanak and Yaty are both suspended so in comes Chea Sam at DMC and Sok Panha to partner Gbayoro in Central Defence. Nhem is preferred to new signing Nhem Dara up front. Team: Som, Ratana, Pa...

65. Keeping up the Pressure

After a dodgy start to the season, we have finally found some form and a run of wins has propelled us up to 2nd in the table on goal difference after ten games. It is though a marathon not a sprint and the mid-season transfer window may have a part to play as envious eyes are cast once again on my talented squad... Match 12 – Mekong Kampeuchea University v EDC It’s time to re-visit those obdurate students from the Mekong University. They have strengthened since last we met in the first match of our sucessful Hun Sen Cup campaign back in 2023. The University team also have a mature student in their ranks who goes by the name Suon Veasna. Now 31 years old he is still dancing down the wing and will be their most obvious threat. They lie bottom of the league with just 6 points, but have been on a little three match unbeaten run. We could go top with a win here. I go in with a 4-2-4 with Pidor and forgotten man, Tuy Oudom makes his first appearance of the season on the wing, to supply ammun...

64. Back to Footballing Matters

DISCLAIMER: If you are one of my friends or family reading this latest instalment of the Ultimate World FM Game, please note that the story surrounding it is a pure work of fiction and are not based on real life events. I have never been remotely near Cambodia, only through a laptop screen on Football Manager 2021 and Google Earth for research purposes. I am still living in Leeds, UK, with my wife and son. If your name happens to also be Charlotte Lay, then once again, she is a pure work of fiction invented for the purposes of this ficticious story. Lastly, this made up story is not reflective of the real Electricite Du Cambodge FC, or any of the personel associated with the club. Enjoy reading! It's fair to say it had been quite a few weeks! A hot date, a falling out with my backroom team over said date, a trip to Malaysia for a job interview and a falling out with chairman, Hem Vutha over said interview. In amongst that, saving the same woman from the grip of muggers in a Phnom...

63. 2nd Year Anniversary!

It's exactly two years ago since I took the step of publishing my first ever post for the Ultimate World FM Game. I didn't know how it would go? Fate took me to Cambodia, hardly a footballing power but as it turns out a very interesting place in which to build a football manager story around. Playing FM and writing this story has become a part of my life, a hobby which has kept me busy, usually on an evening after work. On the Official SI Forums, the story won three awards, Best Rest of The World Story, Best Character (for 'The Cambodian Pele' Ahmed Abdi) and I also retained my Writer of The Year Crown. On this blog I now have nearly 7,000 views from around the world, including some regular views from Cambodia itself which I am thrilled about, Ukraine (peace be with you soon I hope) and in many different countries around the world on every single Continent. I hope you are enjoying the ride and the soap opera romance element which has been added of late (all made up of ...

The post match routine couldn't end quickly enough. I did the team talk and gave the players a big well done for a good performance after holding the Champions to a one all draw. I then did the press, BTV for Cambodian Match of The Day various radio stations, plus the post match press confe...
